Thottikallu Falls

Bangalore has a lot of places within a 100km radius for people to escape their monotonous lives. One of them is Thottikallu. Famous for its waterfall, Thottikallu is a famous getaway choice among Bangaloreans. If you wish to lose yourself amidst the beauty of nature, read on to know what all the place has to offer, the best season to visit it in, timings, how to get there and how to have make the most of your one day trip.

How to reach

Also known as SwarnaMukhi waterfalls, these are located 33km from Bangalore. Thus one can easily reach in an hour and a half if commuting by road via NICE Bangalore-Mysore Expressway or via Hosur Rd and NH48. There are a lot of buses available from the Majestic Bus Stand, being only an hour away from the Kempegowda Bus Terminal. However, going by your own vehicle is always preferable.

Our advice would be to go on two-wheelers as the roads leading to the falls are comparatively narrow. However, you won’t be able to ride all the way till the falls. You can park your vehicles outside the shrine with a nominal parking fee and then need to walk towards the waterfalls.

When to visit

Being a waterfall, the best time to visit is obviously during the monsoons or right after the season. Summer is a terrible option as most of the water has dried up. Since it is open to everyone, there are no particular timings and is open all day. However, one must try to reach before 10am to enjoy there till evening.
