Water Sports at Kihim Beach

Tourists can enjoy quite a few water sport activities on this beach. Some that are quite popular are:

Banana Boat Rides: In this ride, visitors sit on an inflatable banana boat which is then pulled by jet skis. Ideally, the ride costs Rs.100 per person.

Jet Skiing: Since the water here is not very deep, people can enjoy jet skiing too. Prices can be anywhere between Rs.200 to Rs. 500 for two people.

Parasailing: Experienced professionals and guides offer parasailing here. Each session may cost about Rs.1000 per person.

Bumper Rides: In this ride, groups sit on small inflatable boats which are then pulled around by high speed boats. These rides ideally cost Rs.200 per person.

Note: Most of these activities are not available during the monsoons as Kihim receives heavy rainfall during the rainy months.

How To Reach

Kihim is located to the North of Alibaug and is quite well connected with Mumbai and Pune.

Train: The railway station at Pen is the closest to Kihim. It is at a distance of 30 km.
Ferry: People coming to Kihim from Mumbai can also avail the passenger boat service that ferries people from Gateway of India and Bhaucha Dhakka to Mandwa and Kihim.
Road: MSRTC buses can be availed to reach Kihim from Alibaug.

People coming from Mumbai can drive down the NH-17 and then take the state route that connects from Wadkhal.

Auto-rickshaws are readily available here but it is advisable to negotiate the rates before boarding as the fares are not regulated by any government body.

Awas Beach: This is a quiet beach 4.3 km away from Kihim beach. It is quite peaceful and far away from the maddening crowd.
Kanakeshwar Devasthan Temple: This is a peaceful Shiva temple atop a hill. Visitors have to climb about 700 steps to reach the temple but the view from the top is excellent.
Kolaba Fort: Situated at a distance of 1 km from the beach is this sea fort built by Shivaji.
Karmakar Museum: This museum with over 150 sculptures made by Nanasaheb Karmarkar on display is another good place to visit when in Kihim. The museum is about 18 km from the beach.
