In our fast paced life, we are constantly struggling to exercise, and running is the answer to all our prayers to get into shape. Mumbai is blessed with some of the most beautiful spots and here is a comprehensive list of them.

Carter Road

The Carter Road promenade is the most well-known spots of the suburban queen that is Bandra. Opened to the public in 2002, the promenade has been an all-time favourite spots for people of all age groups and for all sorts of activities. It is very well known as the cultural hub of Bandra with activities taking place all year round. You will find many exercise enthusiasts, b-boyers, capoeira artists, musicians, joggers, people walking their dogs and so on. You name it, and Carter road has it at your disposal. The best time to go for a run is in the morning after which you can indulge in some home-made and healthy salads, soups, or juices available at the van parked on the road.

Joggers park

They say whats in a name? In this case, everything. Just as it suggests, Joggers park is the ideal place for every kind of activity, especially jogging. The park is admirably clean, with a lovely view of the Arabian Sea. It has three different tracks and you can either hop, skip, jump or jog on them, all to your liking. It has a small pond, some beautiful trees and potted plants. With a very clean and well-equipped children’s park, you can bring in your kid without having to worry about them and have a comfortable morning jog. The best time to go for a run is in the morning in the clean air.

Hiranandani, Powai

If running on concrete is your thing, the Hiranandani complex is your go-to place. With wide and extremely clean roads, you can jog around from the Powai lake to the many gardens that make up the place. The roads at the complex are one of the best maintained roads you will find around the city. The best time to head to the complex would be in the morning with almost no cars and the road left at your disposal.

The Aarey route is probably the most challenging in the city with its narrow and steep roads, but a preferred one none-the-less. The area is full of greenery, being pretty peaceful and quiet. The track is considered by most to be a great place for some hard core training. It is taken to be one of the best places for runners with its long stretches for distance runs. Early morning is the best time to exercise here.

Shivaji Park

Shivaji park is probably the oldest spot in the city for all kinds of activities and exercises. The park is filled with running groups and very dedicated runners. Being centrally located, accessible, friendly, and a very strong cultural background, the park is a blessing in disguise for all living around it. Being almost free of any cars and hawkers, the park is useful for rigorous training and long-distance running at any time during the day. Whats more, you might just bump into Milind Soman while youre at it!

Worli sea face

Mumbai being the city comprised of seven islands is surrounded by the Arabian sea, and this is exactly what makes Worli sea face the ideal spot for a jog. The clean stretch allows you to go for regular, casual jogs but no intense running. The view of the sun rising in the early morning is probably the most breath taking view in the city. The beautifully constructed Bandra-Worli sea link is just another factor that will drag you to the sea face.

Mahalaxmi Race Course

The 2.2 km stretch is the ideal length for distance running, the smooth track just being to your advantage. Free from the asphalt and concrete patches that you might be used to, the track at the race course is favourite for several reasons. The surrounding greenery just adds to your exercise mood in the mornings. The course is open for the public from 5 am to 9 am and again from 4 pm to 8 pm, these being the ideal times that people prefer.

Priyadarshini Park

Built on reclaimed land, the park is very well equipped for all kinds of sports related activities. A jog on the tracks at Priyadarshini Park is really smooth as they are highly maintained and have state of the art standards. Not only being gorgeous as it is near Malabar Hill, its a great place to soak in some much needed greenery. The park is open for everybody and is idela to jog at either in the morning or in the evening.

Yeoor Hills

Away from South Bombay and the suburbs, Yeoor Hills in Thane serves its people adequately with lovely scenic spots for an ideal hard day at training. A nominal entry fee is required, but once in, the vast expanse of hills and greenery are at your disposal. Exercise undisturbed from the chaos of the city life and be liberated! About 80% of the land is under the Forest conservation department, making it one of the most well-maintained spots.
